Pori Moni surprises fans with ‘Farzana’ first look on birthday

Popular actress Pori Moni celebrated her birthday in a special way this year, unveiling the first look of her upcoming film “Farzana” at a grand celebration on Saturday.

The programme, held at a restaurant in the capital’s 300 Feet area, featured a unique Shiuli flower (night-flowering jasmine) theme. The venue was adorned with the fragrant blossoms, while Pori Moni wore a sari featuring matching floral motifs.

The event was attended by her close friends, colleagues and media personalities.

Pori Moni surprised the guests by announcing her upcoming film “Farzana”, directed by Tarek Rahman. The film’s shooting is already nearing completion, and the unveiling of her first look received an enthusiastic response from those present.

Speaking about the project, Pori Moni said, “I wanted to share a surprise on my birthday. I thought this would be the perfect occasion to talk about my work. We finalised the look six months ago. Despite several challenges, shooting is now almost complete, with only a few tasks remaining.”

She added, “The character is extremely challenging, and I’m putting a lot of effort into portraying it. I’m very optimistic about the film.”

Director Tarek Rahman also expressed optimism about the project. Talking to the Daily Sun, the director said, “It has been a wonderful journey. I hope the audience will discover a completely new side of Pori Moni through this film.”

Elaborating on the storyline, he said, “The film revolves around the wife of a crime reporter who loses his life in the line of duty. Following her husband’s death, she faces an uphill battle for survival while raising their child. Amid the harsh realities of society, she encounters a series of challenges and crises. Pori Moni portrays the role of the wife.”

“About 80% of the shooting has already been completed, and we plan to wrap up the remaining work by December this year. Hopefully, the audience will be able to enjoy the film in theatres next Eid,” he added.

Meanwhile, Pori Moni will also be seen opposite Imtiaz Barshon in the upcoming web film “Separation”, directed by Gias Uddin Selim.
