Love takes centre stage in Cafe Umbrella

Three promising talents from Lux Superstar 2025--Bidushi Bornita, Nazah Nawar and Amina Islam--are set to begin their acting careers with acclaimed filmmaker Shihab Shaheen’s upcoming web film “Cafe Umbrella”. 

The film, featuring four couples and their diverse romantic experiences, will soon premiere on Channel i’s OTT platform iScreen.

Written and directed by Shihab Shaheen, “Cafe Umbrella” is produced by Impress Telefilm under the Lux banner. The cast also includes popular actors Tawsif Mahbub, Partha and Jilani, among others.

The romantic drama explores different shades of love through four interconnected relationship stories. From heartwarming romantic moments to emotional conflicts, misunderstandings and reconciliation, the film promises to portray the complexities of modern relationships.

The project was initially announced during the grand finale of Lux Superstar 2025, where the three finalists earned opportunities to launch their acting careers.

For the newcomers, working alongside established industry figures such as Shihab Shaheen and Tawsif Mahbub marks an important milestone in their professional journeys.

To prepare the emerging performers for their roles, Shaheen arranged a special acting workshop lasting approximately 15 days before filming began.

According to the director, although the contestants received grooming through the competition, they needed additional training to develop their acting skills.

Notably, Lux Superstar contestants previously appeared in films such as “Daruchini Dwip” and “Amar Ache Jol”. Continuing that tradition, “Cafe Umbrella” introduces a new generation of promising performers to the audience through a romantic production.
