A special audio-visual musical project titled ‘Mahadurga’ has been released, celebrating the glory of Goddess Durga and conveying powerful messages of women’s empowerment, humanity, justice and courage. The music video premiered on the Gaan Janala YouTube channel at 3:00pm on Friday (16 October).
Blending Bengali classical, folk and contemporary musical
traditions, ‘Mahadurga’ portrays the various forms and divine attributes of
Goddess Durga while highlighting the importance of justice, bravery and raising
a voice against violence against women. The initiative seeks to present Bengali
culture, heritage and spirituality through a contemporary combination of music
and visual storytelling.
The lyrics have been written by Sanjiban Chakraborty, with
composition by Bhavasindhu Sarkar and music production by Shamim Hasan. The
music video has been directed by Anik Kanti Sarkar, with cinematography by
Rafiqul Islam and editing and colour grading by Fakrul Islam.
The song features vocals by Bhavasindhu Sarkar, Dola
Adhikari, Shubhra Sarkar, Moumita Biswas, SD Sagar, Sikta Saha, Sohag Chandra
Saha and Tannne Saha. The chorus includes Sanchay Sarkar, Susmita Mondal,
Swarnali Sarkar Trisha, Shrabani Mridha, Snigdho Biswas, Ajoy Chowdhury and
Shimul Sarkar.
Child artiste Aira appears in the central role, portraying
the Kumari form of Goddess Durga. Another popular young social media
personality, Priyam, appears in a distinctive character, marking a departure
from the roles for which the child artiste is widely known online. The visual
presentation also features Piyush Dutta in the role of a spiritual
practitioner, alongside lyricist Sanjiban Chakraborty.
The project has received the principal patronage of Seema
Chakraborty and Bhakti Sarkar. Rupam Jewellers has joined as a production
partner, while Universal Medical College Hospital has extended special support
to the audio-visual initiative. Dhakeshwari Temple and Ramna Kali Temple are
associated with the project as heritage partners.
Public relations for ‘Mahadurga’ are being handled by Apel
Akbar and Cool Exposure.
Through its fusion of music, cultural heritage and visual
storytelling, ‘Mahadurga’ aspires to bring the richness of Bengali traditions
and the message of women’s strength to audiences in Bangladesh and abroad. The
project also seeks to encourage greater awareness of women’s dignity, equality
and empowerment through the enduring symbolism of Goddess Durga.
