The 50th episode of the popular podcast “Behind the Fame with RRK” will air tonight at 9:00pm, featuring celebrated singer Samina Chowdhury as the special guest. Coincidentally, the appearance comes in a year when the singer is also marking 50 years of her musical journey.

Samina Chowdhury began her career at a young age and won first prize in the country song category of Bangladesh Television’s talent search competition “Natun Kuri” in 1976.

During the podcast, she shares several memories from her long and eventful career. Samina reveals that two of her timeless songs, “Kobita Porar Prohor Eshechhe” and “Amay Dekhona Ferano Jabe Na”, were recorded on the same day.

She also recalls her journey into playback singing. Samina made her playback debut with the film “Jonmo Theke Jolchhi”. She received her first Bachsas Award as Best Singer for the song “Ekbar Jodi Keu Bhalobasto” from the film. She was also honoured at the same event for “Amar Buker Moddhekhane” from the film Nayoner Alo.

However, the award ceremony also remains memorable to her for another reason. Overwhelmed by the pressure of performing in front of a large audience, she fainted on stage.

In the podcast, Samina Chowdhury also reveals that becoming a singer was not her childhood dream. Instead, she once aspired to become a powerful actress like renowned theatre personality Ferdousi Majumdar.

“Behind the Fame with RRK” is written and hosted by Rumman Rashid Khan and produced by ZI Faisal.
