Director Tanim Noor’s popular web series “Kaiser” will not return with a sequel, despite the strong demand from viewers. The detective thriller, released in 2022, starred Afran Nisho as gamer-detective Kaiser and earned widespread praise for its gripping story, performances and production quality.
In January 2023, OTT platform Hoichoi Bangladesh announced “Kaiser: Level Two”, raising expectations among fans. However, more than three years later, production on the sequel has yet to begin. Tanim Noor has now revealed that the project will not move forward, primarily because of the OTT platform’s lack of interest.
The director also expressed regret over not retaining the intellectual property (IP) rights to the series he created. He recently shared his experience on social media, advising fellow filmmakers and creators to retain ownership of their stories and characters.
“According to my experience, IP rights or intellectual property rights are creative freedom and the biggest strength of the future,” Tanim wrote. He explained that owning the rights gives creators greater control over their scripts and characters and can also provide opportunities for royalties through OTT licensing, sequels and remakes.

He urged creators not to give away the rights to their work simply for the opportunity to make a film or series. “Keep the rights to the work with you and make your story or character a permanent asset,” he advised, adding that he did not want others to repeat the mistake he had made.
A fan later commented on the post, expressing a desire to see “Kaiser 2”. Responding to the comment, Tanim said he would not make another “Kaiser” project. According to the director, he had wanted to return to the character several times, but the lack of copyright ownership made it impossible.
He further suggested that if he had retained the rights, “Kaiser 2”, “Kaiser 3” and possibly even a film based on the character could have been made by now.
Although the sequel will not happen, Tanim has remained active in filmmaking. Over the past two years, he directed “Utsav” and “Bonolota Express”, both of which received positive responses and performed well in theatres.
With “Kaiser” now behind him, Tanim is turning his attention to a new project and plans to focus fully on his upcoming work.
