Hasan, vocalist of popular Bangladeshi band Ark, faced an unpleasant incident while performing at the “Barsha Biplober Gaan” concert held at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital recently to mark the anniversary of the July Uprising.
Several videos circulating on social media show a water bottle being thrown at Hasan from the audience while he was performing on stage. The incident quickly sparked discussion among music fans and netizens.
Despite the incident, Hasan remained calm and chose not to react harshly. “I don’t think anything, maybe someone has made a mistake! I hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else in the future,” he said.
Following the incident, several prominent artists and musicians expressed their views on social media. They stressed the importance of ensuring artists’ safety at concerts and described such behaviour as undesirable and upsetting.
Many also pointed out that regardless of differences of opinion or personal preferences, throwing objects at an artist during a performance is unacceptable.
The “Barsha Biplober Gaan” concert was organised by the Monsoon Cultural Alliance to commemorate the anniversary of the July Uprising. A number of popular Bangladeshi artists and bands participated in the event.
The incident has continued to draw attention on social media, with many hoping that similar incidents will not be repeated at cultural programmes in the future and that artists will be able to perform in a safe and respectful environment.
