Make your Eid memorable without overspending
A A

Eid-ul-Fitr is a time of togetherness, celebration, and joy. In our country, the excitement and the preparation begin days before Eid, as people flock to shopping malls to buy new clothes, matching shoes, and accessories to complement their outfits, perfumes, and even home décor. Unfortunately, many people tend to overspend and end up purchasing more than they need. Unnecessary purchases can also lead to waste – something we should definitely avoid, especially during Ramadan and Eid.
The good news is that there are multiple ways through which you can easily enjoy Eid to the fullest without straining your budget. Here are some practical ways you can save money and avoid waste this Eid:

Bank cards and MFS like bkash
Multiple bank cards offer amazing discounts and cashback offers on Ramadan transactions. Look out for those deals, especially at popular stores like Aarong, Bata, Apex, and Yellow. Moreover, you can also enjoy various discounts when you pay with bkash. Similarly, retail stores offer Eid discounts, too – you can keep an eye on them through social media pages or newspapers.

Online deals
Nowadays, many people prefer e-commerce (online) shopping to avoid the crowd and crazy traffic. Platforms like Daraz are continuously offering remarkable Eid sales on clothes, shoes, accessories, and home décors. Businesses on Facebook also provide Eid discounts, so keep an eye out for them. Some stores also offer special promo codes for shoppers – remember to use them before the checkout.

Budget-friendly stores
We don’t always purchase things only for ourselves during Eid; we also get gifts for our friends, families, and colleagues. Instead of going and splurging money at expensive stores, we can easily visit budget-friendly shops, especially for gifts. Places like Mr. DIY, Miniso, Yoyoso, and Only 99 Shop BD (Facebook Page) offer many affordable options for accessories, perfumes, home décor, toys, and even gadgets.

Check your closet before shopping
We always tend to buy matching shoes and accessories with our Eid outfits. But it is recommended to check your own collection of shoes and accessories before purchasing new ones because you might already have a matching handbag, scarf, shoes, or jewellery to complement your Eid dress. Such a simple but effective habit can save you from spending a significant amount and prevent you from accumulating unnecessary things which will later just sit in your closet – such a waste.

Prioritise spending
Remember, Eid is not about spending money on yourself or your family only; instead, it’s about expressing gratitude, fostering community and togetherness, and, most importantly, it’s about giving charity. Instead of splurging on luxury items, you should allocate a portion of your money for yourself and gifts to friends, families, and acquaintances while allotting another, preferably a bigger portion, to donate or help those in need. Small acts of kindness can make the celebration more meaningful.
Be mindful of spending and avoid wasting so that your Eid can be joyous without the financial strain. This Eid, try to make a difference in others’ lives as well by showing a small gesture of kindness.
