A 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck northeastern Afghanistan on Wednesday, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).
The earthquake occurred at 10.27pm local time (1757 GMT) at a depth of 216.7 kilometers (134.6 miles).
Its epicenter was located in the Jurm district of Badakhshan province, the USGS said.
There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties following the earthquake.
Earlier on 27 June, the country was also struck by a powerful magnitude 6.2 earthquake.
Although repeated tremors have not caused a major disaster this time, residents remain haunted by the deadly memories of November 2025, when a magnitude 6.3 earthquake destroyed numerous homes and claimed the lives of at least seven people.
