The Flow Fest is set to organise a 3-day Winter Wellness Fest from 12 to 14 November at Fortis Platinum Lounge in Dhaka, aiming to promote social connections, friendship and mental wellbeing through a range of engaging activities.
Under the theme, “Let’s Take Dhaka Outside,” the festival will bring together people from different walks of life to enjoy music, dance, yoga, art, mindfulness, food and other creative activities in a welcoming outdoor environment.
The initiative comes amid growing concerns over loneliness and social isolation, particularly among young people. According to a survey conducted by The Flow Fest among 1,500 university students in Dhaka, loneliness emerged as the leading emotion among respondents.
Despite increasing digital connectivity, meaningful face-to-face interactions remain essential for emotional and social wellbeing. Through its initiatives, The Flow Fest encourages people to step away from their screens, explore new interests and build lasting friendship.
The upcoming festival will offer visitors opportunities to participate in wellness activities, discover new hobbies, and connect with like-minded individuals. Organisers hope the event will inspire participants to become involved in communities beyond the festival.
Alongside the annual celebration, The Flow Fest organise regular programmes to encourage social interaction.
Its Friday Flow Walks take place every Friday at 10:00am at Justice Shahabuddin Ahmed Park in the capital, offering participants opportunities to walk, interact and make friends.
The organisation also hosts Saturday Speed Friending sessions every Saturday at 5:00pm at Hiroshi Ramen, where participants meet new people through themed conversations and shared interests.
Additionally, Flow Weekend Retreats offer opportunities to explore destinations across Bangladesh, reconnect with nature and develop friendship away from city life.
Shazia Omar, founder of The Flow Fest, said, “We don’t heal in isolation. We heal through connection. We want to make friendship easier, community more accessible, and wellbeing something we practice together. Sometimes all it takes is stepping outside, trying a new class or saying hello to a stranger.”
Through the festival and its year-round activities, the organisation hopes to foster a stronger sense of belonging among Dhaka residents and encourage meaningful human connections.
