Abdus Samad, who was injured by police gunfire during anti-discrimination student movement in Debidwar, Cumilla on 5 August of the previous year, has passed away due to a heart attack.
He died at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases on Tuesday (4 March).
Abdus Samad was the son of Asmat Ali from Dhampti Uttarpara village in Debidwar Upazila.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Debidwar Police Station Shamsuddin Mohammad Ilias confirmed the news.
Nahidul Islam Nahid, a member of the National Citizens Committee in Debidwar Upazila, reported that Samad was shot by police during a protest against the Hasina government on 5 August last year, while attempting to lay siege to a police station.
He was critically injured and received treatment for seven months. Unfortunately, he suffered a heart attack and passed away on Tuesday at 3:00 pm.
