Thirty-four high-ranking officers of the Bangladesh Civil Service, including additional and joint secretaries, departed for Pakistan on Sunday to participate in a two-week Executive Leadership Training Programme at the National School of Public Policy (NSPP) in Lahore.
Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran
Haider was present at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital to
see off the delegation, said a press release.
Earlier, the high commissioner hosted a dinner in
honour of the participants of the programme.
Addressing the participants, he described the
programme as an important initiative to strengthen bilateral cooperation
through institutional engagement, professional collaboration and
people-to-people exchanges.
He highlighted the vision and commitment of the
leadership of Pakistan and Bangladesh to promote closer ties and expanding
cooperation in public administration.
He also underscored the longstanding historical,
cultural and familial bonds between the two countries and emphasised the
considerable potential for expanding cooperation in the fields of education,
science and technology, trade, culture, media, climate change and digital governance.
Referring to the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge
Corridor, announced by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and
Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar during his visit to Dhaka in August 2025, the high commissioner
noted that 170 Bangladeshi students had joined leading Pakistani universities
in 2026, with another 20 expected to do so shortly.
He also recalled that the first batch of 12 senior
Bangladeshi government officials had successfully completed the programme
earlier this year.
The current delegation is the second batch to
participate in this initiative, reflecting the growing institutional
cooperation between the two countries.
