National Revolution and Solidarity Day 2026 was observed with due dignity and solemnity at the Bangladesh Embassy in Copenhagen, with the participation of expatriate Bangladeshis and embassy officials.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Denmark Dr Zokey Ahad hoisted the national flag on the embassy premises in the presence of members of the Bangladeshi community, a PID release said here today.
The programme began with the recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the reading of messages from the President and the Prime Minister. A documentary highlighting the historical background and significance of the day was also screened.
Speaking at the event, BNP Denmark unit President and party Central Executive Committee member Gazi Monir Ahmed, General Secretary Omar Faruk and other leaders highlighted the historical significance of the day, stressing national unity and solidarity.
In his address, Ambassador Dr Zokey extended greetings to those present and highlighted the day's significance in the history of Bangladesh, particularly in upholding independence and sovereignty.
He said geographical distance could not weaken expatriate Bangladeshis' ties with their motherland.
The ambassador urged them to preserve the country's history, heritage, culture and national values while living abroad and pass these traditions on to future generations.
He also called upon all to contribute to national development through patriotism, unity and solidarity.
The enthusiastic participation of expatriate Bangladeshis made the observance lively, reaffirming the importance of promoting national history and values among younger generations abroad.
