Acting Foreign Minister Humaiun Kobir on Tuesday led the Bangladesh delegation to the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in St John's, Antigua and Barbuda.

The ceremony was held at the Antigua and Barbuda National Performing Arts Centre this morning (local time), according to a foreign ministry press release.

King Charles III, Head of the Commonwealth, attended the opening ceremony alongside host Prime Minister Gaston Browne, heads of government, foreign ministers and heads of delegation from the Commonwealth's 56 member states.

This year's summit is being held under the theme "Accelerating Partnerships and Investment for a Prosperous Commonwealth", highlighting the importance of stronger cooperation, economic engagement and investment among member countries.

Kobir, who is representing Bangladesh in his capacity as acting foreign minister, is scheduled to deliver a statement at the executive session of the Commonwealth Heads of Government later in the afternoon (local time).

The Commonwealth summit provides a platform for member countries to discuss issues of mutual interest and explore opportunities for strengthening cooperation and partnerships.
