A US Navy mine countermeasures ship, USS Warrior, arrived at
Chattogram Port on Sunday to participate in a five-day joint exercise with the
Bangladesh Navy.
The Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT)
Bangladesh 2026 exercise will run from Monday to Friday, according to a
statement issued by the US Embassy in Dhaka on Sunday.
Acting US Defense Attaché Major Carsten Fletcher welcomed
the ship and its crew upon their arrival at the port.
The exercise reflects the United States' commitment to
working with the Bangladesh military on shared maritime security concerns in
the region, said Acting US Mission Spokesperson Mara Bird.
It would also “strengthen the US-Bangladesh partnership and contribute to a stronger and more prosperous
United States of America,” the press release read.
CARAT is a series of bilateral naval exercises aimed at enhancing cooperation, operational coordination and maritime security among participating countries.
