Bangladesh and China’s Hubei Province have discussed expanding cooperation in education, including student exchanges, teacher training and joint academic research.
A delegation led by education ministry Senior
Secretary Abdul Khaleque held a bilateral meeting with officials of the Hubei
Provincial Department of Education in Wuhan, China, on Thursday.
The meeting was chaired by Duan Xuhui, deputy
director-general of the Hubei Provincial Department of Education, at the
department’s office.
During the meeting, Duan highlighted Hubei’s
strengths in basic, secondary and higher education, as well as vocational and
technical education.
He said around 730 Bangladeshi students were
currently studying at different educational institutions in Hubei.
Hubei was keen to welcome more Bangladeshi students,
teachers, researchers and education professionals, he said, expressing
willingness to strengthen cooperation through student exchange programmes,
teacher training, joint research and institutional partnerships.
Abdul Khaleque outlined Bangladesh’s education
priorities and proposed signing a record of notes to facilitate follow-up
cooperation and the implementation of joint work plans.
He stressed the need to expand student exchanges,
strengthen teacher training initiatives and increase the number of Bangladeshi
students pursuing education in Hubei.
The senior secretary also invited representatives
and educational institutions from Hubei to visit Bangladesh for further
discussions and collaboration.
Both sides discussed practical measures to advance
cooperation and agreed to promote student mobility, teacher capacity building
and joint academic projects.
