A transition to a low-carbon economy is not only about technology and investment but also about ensuring that workers, communities and businesses can adapt to change while creating new opportunities, decent jobs and social protection for all.

At the National High-Level Dialogue on Just Transition, Bangladesh presented a roadmap featuring 69 priority actions across six sectors, along with a costed implementation framework of $1.85 billion.

In a Facebook post, the Embassy of Sweden in Dhaka said the roadmap translates Bangladesh’s climate commitments into concrete actions.

Sweden welcomed Bangladesh’s efforts to put people at the centre of climate action through a dedicated Just Transition chapter in its NDC implementation plan, linking climate goals with skills development, social protection, enterprise support and inclusive economic opportunities.

“Through Sweden’s partnership with the ILO, we support approaches that bring together environmental sustainability, decent work and social dialogue,” the embassy said.

It said such approaches would help ensure that the transition creates new opportunities while supporting those most affected by change.

“As Bangladesh moves from dialogue to delivery, cooperation among government, workers, employers, youth, civil society and development partners will remain essential,” the embassy added.
