The government has appointed Mohammed Abdul Muhith as Bangladesh’s new high commissioner to the United Kingdom (UK).
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification on Monday (24 August) announcing the appointment.
According to the notification, Muhith’s remaining tenure as rector of the Foreign Service Academy has been cancelled and he has been appointed as high commissioner to the UK on a two-year contract with Grade-1 status.
His two-year tenure will take effect from the date he assumes office.
The notification said the appointment was made on condition that Muhith’s unavailed post-retirement leave and related benefits would remain suspended. He will also have to relinquish any involvement in any other profession or business, as well as any employment or association with government, semi-government or private institutions or organisations.
The other terms and conditions of his appointment will be determined through a contract, the notification added.
