Bangladesh, Netherlands reaffirm commitment to rule of law

Netherlands Ambassador to Bangladesh Joris van Bommel met Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman at the Secretariat in Dhaka on Monday and discussed legal reforms, governance and human rights.

The meeting reaffirmed the longstanding partnership between Bangladesh and the Netherlands in promoting good governance, the rule of law and human rights, according to a Facebook post by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Bangladesh.

The ambassador and the minister exchanged views on ongoing legal and institutional reforms, including reforms involving the Anti-Corruption Commission and the National Human Rights Commission.

They also discussed the role of commercial justice courts in strengthening the investment climate and improving access to justice.

First Secretary (Political) Jaouad Azaoui and Political Affairs Adviser Lubain Chowdhury Masum accompanied the ambassador during the meeting.
