Bangladesh extends aid to flood-hit Mozambique
A A

Bangladesh has extended humanitarian assistance to flood-affected Mozambique, reaffirming solidarity with the southern African nation amid an ongoing crisis.

Bangladesh High Commissioner to South Africa Shah Ahmed Shafi, on behalf of the Bangladesh government, handed over a cheque equivalent to Tk10 lakh in local currency to Mozambique’s Foreign Minister Manuela Dos Santos Lucas at her office in Maputo on Wednesday.

Mozambique sought international humanitarian support after month-long torrential rainfall triggered devastating floods that destroyed crops, disrupted livelihoods, and damaged communication networks, pushing large areas into crisis.

High Commissioner Shafi conveyed sympathy from the people and government of Bangladesh and expressed hope for the swift recovery of those affected, describing the assistance as a symbol of Bangladesh’s solidarity with Mozambique. Bangladesh’s Honorary Consul General in Mozambique, Yusuf Mirali, attended the ceremony.
