Jaishankar hands over condolence message to Tarique Rahman

Neighbouring country India has sent a condolence message expressing deep respect over the death of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar handed over the condolence message to BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Wednesday, according to a post on the party’s official Facebook page.

Tarique Rahman’s daughter, barrister Zaima Rahman, BNP Standing Committee members Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Salahuddin Ahmed, along with other party leaders, were present at the time.

Earlier in the day, at around 11:30am, S Jaishankar arrived in Dhaka on a special Indian Air Force flight. He was received at Bangladesh Air Force Base Bashar by M Farhad Hossain, secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Intergovernmental Organisations and Consular Affairs).
