Spokesperson of India’s external affairs ministry Randhir Jaiswal has demanded justice for the killing of Dipu Chandra Das, a Hindu individual who was killed in Mymensingh by an angry crowd on allegations of disrespecting Islam.
“India has conveyed its strong concerns over attacks on minorities in
Bangladesh. Those responsible for the killing of Dipu Chandra Das needs to be
brought to justice,” Jaiswal said while responding to journalists.
Earlier on Saturday night, some 20-25 people gathered outside
Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi and protested Dipu’s killing.
After some media reports in Bangladesh claimed that the high commissioner
felt threatened as the protesters tried to breach the security of the high
commission, Jaiswal called for a press briefing, where he refuted the claims.
“There was no attempt by the protesters to breach the security fence or create any security threat at any point. Police personnel stationed at the site dispersed the group within a few minutes, and visual evidence of the incident is publicly available,” Jaiswal clarified.
