Russian Navy ship visits Chattogram on courtesy trip

The Russian Navy ship, Gremyashchy, arrived at Chattogram Port on Monday on a five-day courtesy visit to Bangladesh.
The Chief Staff Officer, on
behalf of the Commander of the Chattogram Naval Area, welcomed the ship’s
officers and sailors, followed by a performance from a well-trained naval band,
according to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release.
Russian military attachés
in Bangladesh and senior local naval officials were present to greet the
visiting crew.
Earlier, Bangladesh Navy
ship BNS Umar Farooq welcomed the Russian vessel as it entered Bangladesh
waters.
During the visit, the
ship’s commander and a delegation including Russian military attachés will hold
courtesy meetings with the Commander of Chattogram Naval Area, Commander of BN
Fleet, Area Superintendent of Dockyard and Chairman of Chattogram Port
Authority.
The visiting officers and
sailors will lay wreaths at Redkin Point at Bangladesh Naval Academy, visit
naval ships, bases, the BN Ashar Alo School for children with special needs and
several historical sites in Chattogram. Bangladesh Navy personnel will also
tour the Russian ship.
The visit will allow both
navies to exchange professional knowledge, observe operations and explore
future training and cooperation, the ISPR release said.
The ship is scheduled to leave on 21
November.
