Qatar on Sunday signed an agreement with Bangladesh to appoint 800 members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces to the former’s forces on deputation, said Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The agreement was signed between the two countries in Doha, Qatar.
“In accordance with the agreement, 800 personnel of the armed forces will primarily be appointed for a period of three years. The duration may be extended for three more years upon satisfaction of their work. The manpower may be augmented in the future,” says the ISPR.
Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division Lieutenant General SM Kamrul Hassan signed the agreement on behalf of Bangladesh, while Chief of Staff of the Qatar Armed Forces Lieutenant General (Pilot) Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Mannai signed for Qatar, according to the ISPR.
The agreement has opened a new door for sending the armed forces personnel to the Qatar forces. It will help draw foreign currency while improving the relationship of the two countries.
Besides signing the agreement, PSO Kamrul Hassan discussed with the senior officers of the armed forces, the military industry and others concerned in the Middle East country over the bilateral-related issues.
On 21-25 April this year, Chief Adviser of the interim government Dr Muhammad Yunus visited Qatar. The agreement is a result of the visit.
