Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan has reiterated his country’s strong commitment to deepening cooperation with Bangladesh, highlighting the shared maritime heritage and the enduring friendship between the two nations.

In a Facebook post following the Bangladesh Marine Community Singapore (BMCS) Night 2025, Dr Balakrishnan on Sunday said ties between Singapore and Bangladesh are rooted in “People, Partnerships, and Potential.”

He praised Bangladesh for its rich pool of skilled professionals, particularly its mariners, whom he described as hardworking, disciplined, and exemplifying the best qualities of the Bangladeshi people.

The minister expressed delight at meeting many familiar faces and friends at the event, and thanked the BMCS for their ongoing contributions to Singapore’s maritime sector and wider economy.

“Singapore continues to believe in Bangladesh’s potential, and we stand ready to partner them in their next phase of growth and development,” Dr Balakrishnan noted.

The annual BMCS Night brings together Bangladeshi maritime professionals working in Singapore, recognising their role in strengthening people-to-people ties and advancing bilateral cooperation across the sector.
