South Korean Minister for Trade Han-Koo YEO is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on Monday to strengthen trade and investment cooperation between Bangladesh and South Korea.
According to diplomatic sources, the visit will focus on expanding bilateral economic relations, boosting investment and advancing discussions on the proposed Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
During his visit, Han-Koo YEO is expected to hold meetings with relevant Bangladeshi ministers and senior government officials. He is also likely to meet business leaders and investors from both countries.
The discussions are expected to prioritise cooperation in the ready-made garment sector, technology, electronics, infrastructure, skilled workforce development and increased South Korean investment in emerging industries in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh and South Korea are currently negotiating the CEPA, with several rounds of talks already held. The fifth round of negotiations took place in Seoul in July.
Sources said that deepening trade ties with South Korea has become increasingly important as Bangladesh prepares for its graduation from the Least Developed Country (LDC) category in 2026. The visit is expected to create new opportunities for technology transfer, investment in high-value industries and the expansion of Bangladesh's export markets.
South Korea is one of Bangladesh's key development and investment partners, with many South Korean companies operating in the country's manufacturing and export sectors.
