A decade of Konal and K-Company

Popular singer and National Film Award–winning artiste Somnur Monir Konal has completed more than a decade and a half in her professional music career. A significant part of this journey has been her band, K-Company, which has been practicing and performing together for over a decade.
A few years after becoming the champion of Channel i’s reality show “Serakontho” in 2009, Konal formed K-Company to give her musical ideas a collective shape. According to Konal, K-Company means her musical companions. With these companions, she has performed across the country as well as on stages in different parts of the world. Looking back, she says she never realised how quickly the years had passed.
Referring to K-Company as her ‘second family,’ Konal said, “With this group, it’s not only about music-it’s a whole life journey. We always try to present beautiful and high-quality programmes for the audience.”
The current lineup of K-Company includes Rakibul Islam Rocky (lead guitarist), Palash Kumar Halder (drums and percussion), Rubel Ahmed (bass guitar), Zahidur Rahman (keyboard), Ujjwal Kumar Bhattacharya (percussion) and Sajeeb (sound engineer), alongside Konal. The group is known for constantly experimenting and bringing innovation to their stage shows.
After completing a decade together, K-Company is now focusing on producing a new album, with work underway on five new songs. Alongside studio projects, the group continues to perform regularly at concerts both at home and abroad throughout the year.
Konal also announced plans to celebrate K-Company’s 12th anniversary next year with a series of colourful and special events.
