There’s something magical about winter nights spent under blankets with Netflix, especially when December brings a warm line-up of fresh films, series, animations, and much-anticipated sequels. The December 2025 slate of Netflix Originals promises variety, excitement, and emotional depth across genres. 

Troll 2: Releasing on 1 December, “Troll 2” returns to the Norwegian mountains with another mythical adventure. Written by Espen Aukan and directed by Roar Uthaug, the Motion Blur production—one of the biggest in Nordic film history—continues the saga that captivated audiences in 2022. The cast includes Ine Marie Wilmann, Jon Ketil Johnsen, Mads Sjogard Pettersen, Kim S Falck-Jorgensen, Sara Khorami, Aksel Almaas, Trond Magnum, and Gard B Eidsvold.

The Abandons: Arriving on 4 December, “The Abandons” takes viewers to the harsh American frontier of the 1850s. Created by Kurt Sutter under Sutter Ink, the Western drama follows Fiona Nolan, an Irish immigrant who hopes to heal her grief by adopting four orphans—only to find her dream colliding with sinister forces.

Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft (Season 2): The animated action series returns for its final season on 11 December. Hayley Atwell once again voices Lara Croft, joined by Karen Fukuhara, Earl Baylon, Allen Maldonado, O-T Fagbenle, and Richard Armitage.

Man vs. Baby: Also releasing on 11 December, Rowan Atkinson brings another round of charming chaos in the comedy “Man vs. Baby”. Alanah Bloor joins the cast as Trevor’s daughter Maddy, taking over from India Fowler.

Had I Not Seen the Sun (Part 2): Premiering on 11 December, the Taiwanese romantic thriller continues its eerie narrative. Produced by Make a Deal International, the story follows a documentarian whose prison interview with a serial killer triggers disturbing dreams and ghostly encounters.

City of Shadows: The Spanish thriller series “City of Shadows”, based on Aro Sainz de la Maza’s novel, arrives on 12 December. Directed by Jorge Torregrossa and produced by Arcadia Motion Pictures, it stars Veronica Echegui, Manolo Solo, Ana Wagener, Isak Ferriz, Agata Roca, David Bages, and Jordi Rico.

Home for Christmas (Season 3):  Returning on 12 December, the Norwegian comedy-drama from The Global Ensemble Drama continues under director Per-Olav Sorensen. Season 3 brings together writers Amy Deasismont, Vera Herngren, Mari Orstavik, and Siri Seljeseth.

Emily in Paris (Season 5): On 18 December, Darren Star’s beloved rom-com expands to Rome as Emily juggles a new romance with an Italian fashion heir and her role in launching Agence Grateau’s Rome branch.

Goodbye June:  Kate Winslet directs and stars in “Goodbye June”, produced by Working Title Films and Netflix. She is joined by Helen Mirren, Toni Collette, Johnny Flynn, Andrea Riseborough, Stephen Merchant, and Timothy Spall.

Stranger Things: Final Season: The iconic sci-fi horror series returns for its concluding chapter. Set in fall 1987, tensions rise as the military hunts Eleven and Hawkins prepares for one last battle. Volume 2 releases on 25 December, followed by Volume 3 on 31 December.
