Mosharraf Karim and Kochi Khondokar, two popular figures in the country’s entertainment industry, are set to reunite on the big screen for a new football-centric feature film. While Kochi Khondokar is known not only for his acting but also for directing dramas and telefilms, this upcoming project marks his first full-length film with Mosharraf Karim in the lead.
Kochi Khondokar told the media that he expects to begin shooting “My Dear Football” in mid-2026. The story draws inspiration from the deep-rooted passion for football in Bangladesh’s small towns. “My own affection for the sport began in childhood. My father used to play football. The film ‘My Dear Football’ depicts the love that mofussil people have for the game,” he shared.
The film’s title, he explained, carries a nostalgic touch, referring to the once-popular Dear-brand football used in local playgrounds. “‘Dear’ also means beloved. The name ‘My Dear Football’ blends both meanings,” Kochi added.
According to the director, shooting will primarily take place in Kushtia, with production planned for July–August 2026. Casting for the remaining roles is currently in progress, and Kochi hopes to formally announce the project at a press conference by the end of the year. Kochi has previously attempted to launch feature film projects but faced setbacks that prevented them from moving forward.
On the work front, Kochi Khondokar’s new drama series Tel Chhara Porota began airing on Maasranga Television in August.
