City of Memories: A solo exhibition of miniature paintings
A A

A solo exhibition of miniature paintings by noted artist Kazi Salahuddin Ahmed, titled “City of Memories”, is set to begin in the capital on Tuesday at Alliance Française de Dhaka in Gulshan 1.

The inauguration ceremony will be attended by Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet, Ambassador of France to Bangladesh, as the chief guest. Asif A. Chowdhury, Honorary Consul for Chile in Bangladesh, and artist Mustafa Zaman will be present as special guests.

Featuring nearly 100 miniature artworks, the exhibition offers a vivid glimpse into Salahuddin’s latest artistic explorations. Drawing inspiration from the intricate visual storytelling of Mughal miniature painting, the artist reimagines this tradition through layered colours, architectural fragments, and fleeting human figures. His works reflect both what is fading from the landscape of Old Dhaka and what endures; its deep-rooted sense of belonging, resilience, and vibrant community life.

A highly accomplished artist, Kazi Salahuddin Ahmed began his career with his first exhibition in 1987. Since then, he has participated in numerous group shows and held around 30 solo exhibitions in Bangladesh and abroad.

“City of Memories” will remain open to visitors until 29 November 2025, from 11:00am to 8:00pm, Monday through Saturday. The exhibition is open to all.
