International Standard University (ISU) organised ‘Cascade 2026’, an intra-university business case competition aimed at identifying practical and effective business solutions to real-world challenges in the textile industry.
Jointly
organised by the ISU Textile Club and the ISU Business Club, the competition
was held on Thursday at the university’s Media Lab under the theme “From
Textile Industry Problems to Business Solutions.” Six teams competed in the
grand finale.
The
competition was presided over by Prof Md Abul Kashem, dean of the Faculty of Engineering
and Technology and chairman of the department of Textile Engineering. The judging
panel comprised Prof Md Ekramul Hoque, director of the Institutional Quality
Assurance Cell (IQAC), and Professor Mohammad Ali of the department of Business
Administration.
The
grand finale featured six teams: Beyond the Case, The Challengers, Error and
Thread, The Hunters, TexSpire, and Electrons. The teams analysed various
challenges facing the textile industry and presented potential solutions,
business strategies, and practical action plans.
TexSpire
secured first place, followed by Beyond the Case in second place and The
Challengers in third place. Certificates and prize money were awarded to the
winning teams at the conclusion of the competition.
The
event was attended by Muhammad Kamruzzaman, prof and head of the department of
Business Administration; Mohammad Faizullah Kawshik, registrar; Farzana
Chowdhury, assistant prof; Shamima Siddika, assistant professor; Md Hasibul
Hasan, lecturer; heads of various departments; and a large number of students
and university officials.
According
to the organisers, initiatives such as ‘Cascade 2026’ help bridge the gap
between academic knowledge and the practical demands of the textile industry.
The
competition also provides students with opportunities to develop essential
professional skills, including analytical thinking, communication, leadership,
teamwork, and decision-making.
Through
analysing real-world industry challenges and proposing viable business
solutions, students gain valuable experience that prepares them for their
future careers and enables them to contribute to the development of
Bangladesh’s textile and business sectors.
