Yeahia Mirza has been elected president of the Public Relations Association of Banks (PRAB), while Nazrul Islam has been elected general secretary.

Yeahia Mirza is the Head of PR and Media at City Bank PLC, while Nazrul is the Head of Public Affairs and Brand Communication at Dutch-Bangla Bank.

The new leadership was announced at a get-together organised by Bonik Barta at a city hotel on Thursday.

PRAB founding general secretary Moniruzzaman Tipu announced the names of the new leaders in the presence of PRAB founding president Ataur Rahman, outgoing president Shamsuddoha Shimu, outgoing general secretary Jalal Ahmed Swapan and other senior members.

Established in 2011, PRAB represents public relations, brand and communications professionals working at banks in Bangladesh.

The organisation is generally run by a 33-member executive committee, which is formed for a two-year term. Public relations and branding heads of leading commercial banks and senior public relations officials of Bangladesh Bank hold various positions on the committee.

Moniruzzaman Tipu said the full 33-member executive committee would be formed through the organisation’s annual general meeting (AGM) in November.

More than 200 officials from the public relations departments of scheduled banks and financial institutions attended the get-together.
