Grameenphone returned to year-on-year revenue growth in the third quarter of 2026, driven by rising data consumption and user expansion as Bangladesh’s top mobile operator recovers from recent business pressures.

Revenue rose 0.2% year-on-year to Tk4,017 crore in the July-September quarter, while net profit held steady at Tk751 crore, according to a company press release.

Revenue also ticked up 0.9% sequentially, continuing the momentum from the previous quarter.

Grameenphone’s subscriber base grew to 86.8 million by the end of September.

Internet users reached 53 million, accounting for 61.4% of total customers. Data usage climbed nearly 12% during the quarter, boosted by improved subscriber retention and new sign-ups.

“Our return to growth this quarter is encouraging, and our focus is now on making that progress sustainable,” said Chief Executive Officer Yasir Azman.

He added that the operator will focus on adapting services to shifting consumer demands, expanding bundled offers, maintaining cost discipline, and continuing investments in network quality.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) remained broadly stable year-on-year, with a margin of around 59%.

Operating costs totalled Tk1,654 crore during the quarter, while cumulative costs for the first nine months of 2026 declined 0.2%.

GP’s capital expenditure-to-sales ratio stood at 12.3% during the January-September period, with investments focused on expanding its 4G network, strengthening fibre connectivity and deploying 700 MHz spectrum.
