ONE Bank PLC, in partnership with United International University (UIU), has launched Bangla QR payments on the university campus to promote digital transactions among students and the wider university community.
More than 400 students attended the launch
event, which was also joined by Bangladesh Bank Governor Md Mostaqur Rahman,
UIU Vice-Chancellor Md Abul Kashem Mia and ONE Bank Managing Director Muhit
Rahman, along with faculty members and senior officials from the central bank
and ONE Bank.
Under the initiative, students can use Bangla
QR to make selected payments on the campus. Businesses also set up stalls at
the event, allowing students and guests to experience QR-based digital
payments.
The initiative supports Bangladesh Bank’s
vision of building an inclusive, digitally empowered and increasingly cashless
economy.
During an interactive session, the governor
discussed digital payments, financial innovation and the future of banking with
students.
The programme also highlighted Bangladesh
Bank’s initiatives related to Bangla QR and its role in expanding the country’s
digital payment ecosystem.
ONE Bank Managing Director Muhit Rahman said
digital transformation became meaningful when financial services were easier to
access and use in everyday life.
Bringing Bangla QR to UIU would allow
students to experience interoperable digital payments firsthand and raise
awareness of the opportunities offered by digital financial services, he said.
Muhit added that the bank was pleased to
partner with UIU to support Bangladesh Bank’s vision and engage young people in
shaping the future of digital payments.
ONE Bank and UIU aim to increase awareness and adoption of digital payments among young people through the partnership, contributing to a more inclusive and digitally connected payment ecosystem.
