The Ministry of Agriculture on Wednesday said that the
process of scrutinising lists received from districts for appointing new
fertiliser dealers was still underway, and urged all concerned to avoid social
media rumours in this regard.
“The scrutiny of the lists received from districts for the
appointment of fertiliser dealers is ongoing at the ministry. No date has yet
been fixed for the final appointment of fertiliser dealers,” the ministry said in
a press release.
The ministry also requested the concerned people to remain
cautious about unverified information and not to be confused by rumours
circulating on social media.
The clarification comes amid widespread interest among
applicants over the government’s ongoing process to appoint new fertiliser
dealers across the country.
The Ministry of Agriculture had earlier received 46,095
applications against 4,931 proposed fertiliser dealerships, with the government
planning to appoint dealers at the union and municipality levels to ensure
timely fertiliser supplies to farmers.
