The Australian government has partnered with International Finance Corporation (IFC) to assist Bangladesh Bank in advancing digital payment adoption.
Adopting broader digital payments is central to financial
inclusion in Bangladesh, the Australian Embassy said in a social media post on
Tuesday.
As part of a nationwide awareness campaign, we
helped small businesses and merchants better understand the benefits of digital
payments, available payment channels, and new merchant onboarding processes,
the Embassy said.
Second Secretary (Economic) Joshua Gacutan joined Dr Md Kabir Ahmed, deputy governor of Bangladesh Bank, and Wilfried Tamegnon, IFC country manager for Bangladesh, in reaffirming the shared commitment of Australia, IFC and Bangladesh Bank in driving the growth of Bangladesh's digital payments landscape, the Embassy added.
