Prime Minister’s Labour and Employment Adviser Mahdi Amin has said a 100% employment in the country’s readymade garments sector is possible without employing any foreign nationals.
“Many factories and buying houses still employ
foreign nationals, while we have the talent, skills and abilities to become
self-reliant. We have the capacity to run this sector completely on our own.
Such a sustainable education system and work culture has to be built so that
our professionals can be recruited internationally,” Mahdi said.
Mahdi made the remarks at a discussion meeting held
by the Ministry of Science and Technology at a hall of the Novotheatre in the
capital’s Bijoy Sarani area on Sunday.
Terming youth employment and creation of skilled
manpower as the government’s main goal, Mahdi said, “While we want to see
sustainable industrial growth and attract large foreign direct investments on
the one hand, we want to ensure numerous employment opportunities for the
youth.”
“This is why we are focusing on technical education,”
Mahdi added.
Highlighting the RMG sector’s role in women
empowerment, Mahdi further said, “Half of the total population of the country
is women, and through the RMG sector, women from remote areas are becoming
self-reliant. This sector is not only the engine of our economy, it is a symbol
of our national tradition, feelings and sacrifices by millions of workers.”

Innovation Fair 2026” after finishing his speech. Many government and private
institutions took part in the fair.
