Finance Minister Amir
Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury on Wednesday assured a delegation of US businessmen
that the BNP government would pursue deregulation, cut red tape and extend all
possible policy support to potential investors.
The finance minister gave the assurance in a meeting with the US business delegate held at the Secretariat.
After the US business
leaders expressed their interest in exploiting the “huge” business potentials
in Bangladesh, the finance minister said they were welcome to set or expand
their footprint inside the country without any fear or concerns.
The government is pursuing the “deregulation policy” to cut red tape, and help reduce corruption, Amir Khosru said.
The government has
been burdened with an economy plundered and rigged for more than 15 years, and
is now working to restore stability and momentum.
The government has
already taken steps and are preparing initiatives for deregulating the economy,
ensuring transparency at all state-owned and private institutions, making
policy support more easy and accessible, and developing a business-friendly environment.
