Gold prices jumped again in the domestic market after two consecutive rounds of declines.

The price of 22-carat gold has been increased by Tk4,432 per bhori (11.664 grams), setting the new rate, including VAT, at Tk230,772, according to a notification issued on Monday morning (June 22) by the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS).

The new prices came into effect at 10am the same day.

BAJUS said the adjustment was made due to an increase in the price of refined gold (tejabi sona) in the local market, which prompted a revision of rates including VAT.

Under the revised structure, 21-carat gold is now priced at Tk220,391 per bhori, while 18-carat gold stands at Tk189,248 per bhori. Traditional gold has been set at Tk154,606 per bhori.

BAJUS stated that the revised rates will remain in effect at all jewellery outlets until further notice.

Earlier, on June 20, gold prices were reduced. At that time, the price of 22-carat gold was lowered by Tk2,216 per bhori, bringing it down to Tk226,340 including VAT. On the same day, 21-carat gold was priced at Tk216,192 per bhori, 18-carat at Tk185,691, and traditional gold at Tk151,690.

Meanwhile, silver prices remain unchanged in the local market. At present, 22-carat silver is being sold at Tk5,249 per bhori. The price of 21-carat silver stands at Tk5,016, 18-carat at Tk4,257, and traditional silver at Tk3,208 per bhori.
