The government has decided to retain the 2.5% cash incentive on remittance sent through legal channels to sustain the remittance growth of the country, as per the proposed budget for 2026-27 fiscal year.
The government said that in March 2026, remittance
inflows reached the highest level in a single month in the country’s history,
amounting to USD$3.75 billion, sent by expatriates.
The government expects this trend to continue, as
the surge reflects the confidence and trust of expatriate Bangladeshis in the
democratic government.
