Import and export activities through Sonamasjid Land Port,
the country’s second-largest land port, will remain suspended for eight days
from Tuesday on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
The information was confirmed on Monday afternoon by Tipu
Sultan, Public Relations Officer of Panama Port Link Limited.
According to him, the decision was taken jointly by the
Sonamasjid Import and Export Group and the Sonamasjid Land Port C&F Agent
Association. Under the decision, all import and export operations through the
land port will remain closed from 26 May 26 to 2 June.
Normal operations are scheduled to resume from Wednesday, 3 June,
following the end of Eid holiday.
Sources at the Sonamasjid Land Port Authority said that
although import-export activities will remain suspended during the period,
several internal port operations—including loading and unloading, warehousing,
and transportation services—will continue on a limited scale.
The authority also said that the Immigration Check Post and
related departments will remain operational under special arrangements to
facilitate the movement of passport-bearing passengers during the holiday
period.
