Intertek has broadened its testing and certification capacity in Bangladesh with the launch of new hardlines, toys and calibration laboratories in Gazipur, strengthening support for the country’s manufacturing and export industries.

The expanded facility brings additional capability for testing a wide range of products, including toys, homeware, cookware, packaging materials, candles, luggage, ceramics and outdoor goods.

These services follow international safety and performance standards such as EN 71, ASTM F963, CPSIA 2008, ISO 8124 and GB 6675, enabling Bangladeshi exporters to meet compliance requirements of major global markets.

Officials said that the new laboratories will help reduce turnaround time for testing and certification, allowing manufacturers to access advanced services locally instead of relying on overseas facilities.

The centre is designed to operate as a one-stop hub for both consumer and industrial clients, offering assurance, inspection, calibration and precision measurement services.

Ajay Kapoor, regional managing director for South Asia, said the move reflects Intertek’s continued investment in Bangladesh’s industrial growth. He noted that expanding hardlines, toys and calibration capabilities will bring global expertise closer to local producers and strengthen their confidence in meeting international market demands.

Neyamul Hasan, country managing director of Intertek Bangladesh, said the upgraded Centre of Excellence will support the country’s role as a competitive global sourcing and manufacturing base.

According to him, the new facilities will improve testing efficiency and ensure high compliance standards across diverse product categories. Intertek has been active in Bangladesh since 2000 and now employs more than 800 professionals across Dhaka, Chattogram, Gazipur and Narayanganj, said a press release.

The company provides quality assurance services to key sectors including garments, leather, consumer goods, food, petroleum, petrochemicals and agricultural products.

It also carries out pre-shipment inspection, technical assessments, international certification, training and engineering services under various government and private contracts.

The addition of the new laboratories marks another step in expanding Bangladesh’s access to globally recognised testing infrastructure, supporting industries aiming to enhance quality, safety and export competitiveness.
