Walton backs DRU Media Cup cricket tournament

Walton has joined Labaid as a sponsor of the DRU Media Cup Cricket Tournament 2026, which will begin at Paltan Outer Stadium in Dhaka on Monday.
A total of 48 teams from 23 newspapers, 17 television channels and eight online news outlets will compete in the tournament, according to a press release. 
The details were announced at a press conference at the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) office on Saturday, attended by DRU President Abu Saleh Akon, General Secretary Mynul Hasan Sohel and Sports Secretary Omar Faruque Rubel, among others.
Walton Group Senior Additional Executive Director Rabiul Islam Milton said the company had long supported sports at different levels in Bangladesh. He said the tournament would offer journalists an opportunity for recreation and strengthen bonds among colleagues.
The champions will receive Tk30,000 and the runners-up Tk20,000. The player of the final will get Tk3,000 and a crest, while every match will have a player-of-the-match award.
DRU leaders thanked Walton and Labaid for their support, according to the release.
