BB to select young entrepreneurs in Manikganj under UDYOG programme

The Bangladesh Bank is set to begin the final selection process for young entrepreneurs in Manikganj district today under its special initiative UDYOG (Upazila-Driven Youth Opportunity for Growth), aimed at promoting grassroots entrepreneurship, creating employment opportunities and boosting economic activity.
The three-day programme will continue until 10 November at the central bank’s headquarters in Motijheel, Dhaka. Bangladesh Bank Assistant Spokesperson Mohammad Shahriar Siddiqui confirmed the matter.
During the programme, applicants from all upazilas of Manikganj will undergo interviews and assessments to identify promising young entrepreneurs eligible for financing support.
The initiative aims to identify potential entrepreneurs at the upazila level, provide them with necessary guidance and facilitate access to finance to help them establish and expand their businesses.
Prominent entrepreneurs, leading business personalities, corporate figures and business leaders from across the country will participate in the selection process. They will evaluate applicants’ business proposals and offer guidance and encouragement to aspiring entrepreneurs.
The selection process in Manikganj, along with those in seven other districts included in the first phase, marks an important step towards the nationwide implementation of the programme.
Following a positive response in the initial eight districts, the central bank has expanded the entrepreneur identification and application process to the remaining 56 districts. Applications are being accepted from 1 November to 30 November.
Bangladesh Bank expects the initiative to create employment opportunities, strengthen grassroots entrepreneurship and contribute to the country’s broader economic transformation through policy support and specialised financing for promising young entrepreneurs.
