Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC has organised a workshop for its senior management to raise awareness of cyber security risks and strengthen protection against digital threats to banking operations.
The workshop was held at the bank’s corporate head office recently as part of National Cyber Security Awareness Month, according to a press release.
Managing Director Mosleh Uddin Ahmed chaired the session, which focused on emerging cyber threats and security challenges facing the banking sector.
Additional Managing Director Md Abdullah Al-Mamun, Deputy Managing Directors M M Saiful Islam and Md Jafar Sadeq, FCA, and heads of different departments also attended.
Alongside the workshop, the bank conducted online awareness sessions for employees throughout October, covering common cyber threats such as phishing, malware, ransomware, social engineering and unauthorised access to information systems.
The sessions highlighted basic security practices, including using strong passwords, avoiding suspicious links and email attachments, and keeping passwords, one-time passwords (OTPs) and personal identification numbers (PINs) confidential.
Employees were also advised to promptly report suspicious emails, unusual transactions and potential security breaches to the IT security department.
The initiative highlighted the importance of employee vigilance, as individual lapses in cyber security can expose banking operations and sensitive customer information to wider risks.
