Pubali Bank, Mastercard launch offshore debit card

Pubali Bank PLC has partnered with Mastercard to launch Bangladesh’s first offshore banking debit card, offering eligible non-resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) and foreign nationals access to foreign-currency banking and international payment services.
The World Mastercard debit card is available exclusively to customers of the bank’s Offshore Banking Unit and can be linked to savings and current accounts held in US dollars and other approved foreign currencies. It supports online shopping, point-of-sale transactions and international payments, according to a press release.
The card also offers travel benefits, including three complimentary international airport lounge visits a year with a guest through the LoungeKey programme, two annual visits to Dhaka’s Balaka Executive Lounge with a guest, and unlimited access to domestic airport lounges, with one accompanying guest per visit.
Mohammad Ali, managing director of Pubali Bank, said the card would make offshore banking more convenient for NRBs and international customers through flexible foreign-currency transactions and travel privileges.
Zakia Sultana, country manager for Bangladesh at Mastercard, said the initiative would help customers manage their finances across borders through secure and convenient payment services.
