Prime Bank PLC and SIMEC Foundation have launched a 12-month initiative to teach life skills, hygiene, environmental awareness and moral values to around 13,000 school students across Bangladesh.
The programme, titled “Building Better Citizens in Bangladesh”, will initially cover 64 primary and secondary schools across all eight divisions, according to a press release.
The two organisations recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at Prime Bank’s head office in Dhaka. Md Ziaur Rahman, additional managing director and chief risk officer of Prime Bank, and Foara Yasmin, treasurer of SIMEC Foundation, signed the agreement in the presence of officials from both organisations.
The programme will cover three areas: water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH); climate and environmental awareness; and moral education and social responsibility.
It will use age-appropriate, participatory learning activities to help students develop healthy habits, understand environmental issues and learn about their responsibilities towards society.
Md Ziaur Rahman said the initiative would provide students with learning on hygiene, climate responsibility and moral education, reflecting the bank’s focus on youth and education.
