INSEE Cement has launched INSEE Ultima, a new Portland Composite Cement (PCC) product in Bangladesh, targeting stronger and more durable construction.
The product was unveiled at an event at Fortis Downtown Resort on Madani Avenue in Dhaka recently, according to a press release.
The cement combines raw materials sourced from Thailand with European technology, the company said.
The event was attended by Dr Kanthasat Boontem, chief executive officer and managing director of INSEE Cement, and other senior officials.
A technical session titled “From Strength to Long-Lasting Performance” brought together Professor Dr Syed Ishtiaq Ahmad and Professor Dr Raquib Ahsan of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), along with cement industry expert P N Iyer.
The discussion focused on factors affecting concrete strength and durability, including proper mixing, the water-to-cement ratio, placement and water curing.
Speakers also highlighted the need for technical assessments and laboratory testing before new cement products enter the market, including evaluations involving the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) and BUET.
