The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has launched its first month-long cybersecurity awareness programme, targeting officials, employees and Trading Right Entitlement Certificate (TREC) holders to strengthen cyber resilience and protect the country’s capital market from online fraud and cyber threats.
The programme, being conducted throughout October, aims to promote safe digital practices and encourage responsible online behaviour among stakeholders, according to a press release.
As part of the initiative, the premier bourse has displayed cybersecurity awareness banners and festoons across its premises and introduced awareness-themed desktop wallpapers on employees’ computers to highlight potential cyber risks.
The activities are designed to help participants identify and respond to suspicious emails, malicious links and other potential cybersecurity threats.
The DSE has also arranged online cybersecurity awareness training sessions for TREC holders through the Zoom platform. Participants have been divided into different groups to facilitate practical learning on key cybersecurity issues.
In addition, an online quiz competition has been organised to assess and improve TREC holders’ knowledge of cybersecurity. Winners will be selected based on an evaluation of their responses.
The exchange will recognise TREC holders demonstrating outstanding performance in the awareness activities. Selected top performers will receive recognition and certificates at the DSE’s regular “Meet and Greet” programme.
The Information Security Department (ISS) will coordinate the initiative, including planning activities, preparing awareness materials, conducting training sessions and organising the quiz competition.
The IT infrastructure, network, public relations and publications departments, along with the managing director’s office, will provide the necessary support for implementing the programme.
The DSE said securing technology-driven capital market operations requires not only technical safeguards but also greater awareness and responsible behaviour among all stakeholders.
The exchange expects the coordinated initiative to strengthen cybersecurity awareness and contribute to building a safer, more reliable and technology-driven capital market.
