NRBC Bank PLC is set to expand its agent banking network to bring formal banking services closer to underserved communities, small entrepreneurs, farmers and students.

The bank outlined its focus on network expansion, customer service and financial inclusion at its Agent Banking Business Review Meeting 2026, held online through Zoom on Monday, according to a press release.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Md Shaheen Howlader attended the meeting as chief guest, while Deputy Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer Mohammad Abdul Qaium Khan was present as special guest.

Heads of various divisions at the bank’s head office, zonal heads and agents representing its agent banking outlets also took part in the meeting.

NRBC Bank launched agent banking operations in 2014 and now operates around 623 outlets across the country. The network provides banking services to beneficiaries of various government social safety net programmes as well as other customers, extending access beyond the bank’s traditional branch network.

As of 31 August, the bank had 275,425 accounts under its agent banking network, with deposits totalling Tk68 crore.

Speaking at the meeting, Shaheen Howlader said agent banking had become an important channel for reaching people with limited access to conventional banking services.

He called for strengthening the network while ensuring accessible and quality services for small entrepreneurs, farmers, students and people in underserved areas.
