Nevian Lifescience PLC, formerly Novartis Bangladesh Limited, has signed an agreement with Swiss pharmaceutical company Sandoz to import and distribute its medicines in Bangladesh, including selected complex generics.
The agreement with Sandoz Pharmaceuticals d.d., Slovenia, builds on the companies’ longstanding partnership and is expected to widen access to specialised medicines in the local market, according to a press release.
Sandoz Pharmaceuticals serves as an international business hub for Switzerland-headquartered Sandoz AG, a global manufacturer of generic and biosimilar medicines.
Nevian’s operations in the country date back to 1973, when it started as Ciba-Geigy (Bangladesh) Limited, a joint venture with state-owned Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC), representing the Government of Bangladesh.
Following the global merger of Ciba and Sandoz, the company became Novartis (Bangladesh) Limited. In 2026, after Radiant Pharmaceuticals Limited acquired a majority stake, it was renamed Nevian Lifescience PLC.
Nevian continues to manufacture a range of Novartis and Sandoz brands at its Tongi facility under separate licensing arrangements.
The company also manufactures finished pharmaceutical products at the facility for Sandoz markets outside Bangladesh under contract manufacturing arrangements.
The latest agreement will allow Nevian to distribute Sandoz medicines in Bangladesh, including complex generics that require specialised manufacturing capabilities, while further expanding its international partnership with Sandoz.
